A broken phone & a forgotten password
As promised, here is the story of my week without my cell phone! On Sunday, we landed in Boston at Logan Airport, and we rented a car to drive to Killington. I used my phone for the GPS navigation. When we arrived at the condo in Killington, I was so excited to get out of the car and checkout where we woukd be staying for the week that I forgot my phone was in my lap! I leaped out of the car, and my Iphone fell face down onto a pile of rocks and shattered the screen and camera! UGH! My husband whose mission in life is to make me ridiculously happy drove me to Rutland to the AT&T store to get a new phone. I was able to get a new phone, but I forgot my Apple password to transfer everything to the new phone. I sent a request to Aople to reset my IPhone, but they sent it to my old phone which doesn't work. I then requested a new link to reset my Apple password to my email address which is the SAME email address as my Apple ID. I get a response from Apple that it will take 18 days to process my request! Are you freaking kidding me? 18 days? Quite certain that this is a mistake, I called Apple Customer Service, and the Apple Genius assured me it was no mistake--to reset my password via my email and not my broken phone would take 18 days! So, just to put this in perspective: if I forgot my password to my bank account, my retirement account, my mortgage, my JOB, I could request a reset link to my email, and it comes in less than a minute, but APPLE takes 18 days!? I feel like I am living in an upside down world where Apple is holding my life hostage. Not to mention that it is sort of Apple's fault that I forgot my password---with Face ID, I haven't used my password since I set up my now broken iPhone 2 years ago! Who remembers a password from 2 years ago? Anyway, now I must have the screen replaced on my old phone so I can access my Apple ID account and reset my password! Although, this has been a frustrating experience, I am a spiritual person. I believe that I was so addicted to my phone and my work email, that God gave me this gift so I could unwind, relax, and enjoy the beauty of Vermont while celebrating my wonderful marriage with my husband! Once I let go of the stress of my broken phone, I was able to embrace the time that I needed away from work---it truly was a gift.
