A broken phone & a forgotten password

Image
As promised, here is the story of my week without my cell phone! On Sunday, we landed in Boston at Logan Airport, and we rented a car to drive to Killington. I used my phone for the GPS navigation. When we arrived at the condo in Killington, I was so excited to get out of the car and checkout where we woukd be staying for the week that I forgot my phone was in my lap! I leaped out of the car, and my Iphone fell face down onto a pile of rocks and shattered the screen and camera! UGH! My husband whose mission in life is to make me ridiculously happy drove me to Rutland to the AT&T store to get a new phone. I was able to get a new phone, but I forgot my Apple password to transfer everything to the new phone. I sent a request to Aople to reset my IPhone, but they sent it to my old phone which doesn't work. I then requested a new link to reset my Apple password to my email address which is the SAME email address as my Apple ID. I get a response from Apple that it will take 18 days t...

Trains, busses, and witches— Oh My!

On the last day of our trip, we decided to venture out to Salem--I mean, Salem in October has to be amazing, right!? We took the metro train to Wonderland and caught a bus that took us to Salem! It was relatively easy to get there. Salem is a lovely town, but in October, it is like a Halloween Ren-Fair: lots of shopping, open-air markets, street performers, and tourists dressed as witches! It is pretty crazy with the sheer numbers of people--unfortunely, we didn't get to visit any of the museums because by 11:00am, they were sold out for the day! Larry finally got to have a lobster roll and Boston Lager--he said both were delicious! I am glad we got to experience Salem in October, but I would like to come back during a non-peak time to enjoy all it has to offer! Tomorrow, we head back home--we have loved every second of our fall vacation!

I fell in love with Boston many moons ago when I took classes at Harvard one summer! I got to experience Boston through my husband's eyes yesterday as we took the T to the city and walked around downtown! It was a gorgeous day! We explored Boston's Back Bay area and visted Fenway Park! The entire town is getting ready for the Boston Marathon, which is Monday--pretty cool that we are here this weekend. Larry loved Fenway, and we found a cute soorts bar to have lunch! We were exhausted from getting uo so early to leave Vermont and walking 5 miles around the city, so we made it an early night and came back to the hotel, ordered pizza, and watched Pretty Woman!

In search of waterfalls and orchards

Image
On our 5th and final day in Vermont, we went in search of waterfalls and apple orchards. We didn't find any waterfalls, and the apple orchard near us was closed! So, we spent some time at Sugarbush Farm and learned how they make pure maple syrup! We also tasted some amazing Vermont cheddar and bought some aged cheddar for a quick snack. We also got some pure maple syrup to bring home! A highlight of our trip at the farm was running into a fellow Aggie! We talked some--my Aggie brother and his wife now live in Austin, TX, and they are both retired educators! As we parted, I thought about how lucky I am to be a part of the Aggie family--we are everywhere and always genuinely excited when we run into a fellow Aggie! I forgot to take a picture! We have dinner reservations tonight at an Inn in Woodstock, but I an not feeling my best, so I we came back to the condo so I can rest! Tomorrow we head to Boston to spend the weekend! I absolutely love Vermont, and we leanred it is only a 14 ho...

Fall in Love with Vermont

Image
Today was day 4 of our week in Vermont! We drove North to Waterbury and Stowe on Route 100. It was a stunning drive through tiny towns and state parks--the foliage was in full peak--lots of reds, golds, and oranges-I am not sure I have seen a more beautiful state! Vermont is full of farms, quaint towns, bridges, rivers, and mountains. The roads for us have been open and not populated. At times, it felt like my husband and I were the only two people in the world! We arrived in Waterbury and stopped at the Ben and Jerry plant--it was closed, but we did visit the flavor graveyard--it was quirky and fun just like B&J's icecream! We then stopped at Cold Hollow Cider Mill for lunch! The food was amazing--we have not had a bad meal at all in Vermont. I had the spinach salad with a small order of VT cheddar mac & cheese, and hubby had the chicken salad sandwich--he also took part in the hard cider flight and loved all of the hard ciders! We then went to the store and watched them p...

Fall in Vermont

Image
My husband and I are falling in love with Vermont this week. We flew into Boston and rented a car and drove to Killington, VT. Neither of us has a "gypsy soul" so we rented an AirBNB in the Green Mountains in the Killington ski resort area and decided to just drive eveywhere we want to go The colors of fall are magical in the mountains, but my iphone camera doesn't capture the beauty of the fall foliage! Day one--we went exploring Killington & Rutland. We ate dinner at a wonderful upscale pizzaria called Domenic's. I can't say enough about how amazing this restaurant is--craft beers, an extensive wine list, great food, and wonderful service! It is a must-try if you visit Killington! Day 2, we were back in Rutland to buy me a new phone (mime was damaged--another story for another day). We ate breakfast at Johnny Boy's Pancake House, and the pumpkin pancakes with walnuts were delicious. It was cold and raining, but we explored Rutalnd and saw the downtow...
