Fall in Love with Vermont
Today was day 4 of our week in Vermont! We drove North to Waterbury and Stowe on Route 100. It was a stunning drive through tiny towns and state parks--the foliage was in full peak--lots of reds, golds, and oranges-I am not sure I have seen a more beautiful state! Vermont is full of farms, quaint towns, bridges, rivers, and mountains. The roads for us have been open and not populated. At times, it felt like my husband and I were the only two people in the world! We arrived in Waterbury and stopped at the Ben and Jerry plant--it was closed, but we did visit the flavor graveyard--it was quirky and fun just like B&J's icecream! We then stopped at Cold Hollow Cider Mill for lunch! The food was amazing--we have not had a bad meal at all in Vermont. I had the spinach salad with a small order of VT cheddar mac & cheese, and hubby had the chicken salad sandwich--he also took part in the hard cider flight and loved all of the hard ciders! We then went to the store and watched them press apples and tasted the virgin cider--very good! Larry got a hot apple cider donut, but I was too full from lunch. I bought some maple syrup and pumpkin butter to take home! We then headed to Stowe to shop and walk off lunch! I love old cemetaries, so we visited the large one in Stowe, snooped in some of the shops and art galleries--it
was a gorgeous day with bkue skies and a comfy 65 degrees! We also visited a pumpkin patch! Stowe is a lovely town, but like Woodstock, the locals thought it was a tad crowded with all the tourists! LOL! We are back in Killington now and plan to eat at The Gaarlic tonight at the recommendation of our AirBNB hosts--their recommendation for Sushi Yoshi last night was excellent so we are trying another of their faves!
